Maths -

Today you will be completing work on decimals. First you should use the powerpoint to help then you should complete the worksheet. 

 

English -

Today you will be starting your mission 500 writing. This is the start of a 500 word story you will be writing. To start with you should go through the powerpoint which outlines your task. You can also start to investigate the help sheets which will help you think about the different types of stories you can write. Start having a think about what type of story you are going to write. Think about the characters and where it is going to be set. You can create bullet points or mind maps to help you build your ideas.

Easter Activities

English activities

  1. Design and create a description of a robot. This robot can be for anything you want. Describe what it looks like, what it does and why people would need one.
  2. Using a story map create your own story. Once you have planned it out write your story.
  3. Write a letter to one of your friends, talk about how you are and what you have been doing to keep yourself entertained while stuck at home. Once you have done this, with grown-ups help you could even send the letters to your friends.
  4. Read a book of your choice, this can either be fiction or non-fiction. Once you have finished this create a poster or video describing what happens in the book.
  5. Research and learn a poem, write your own poem in the style of it.
  6. Read a newspaper and look at how a newspaper is laid out, you can write your own newspaper page about anything you would like.
  7. Write about a film, television show or game.

 

Maths activities

  1. Create a fraction word wall. If you need help with this search online.
  2. Help your parents budget a weeks’ worth of shopping. Decide on the different things you need to buy and how much you have to spend in total.
  3. Become a living clock. Whenever asked by a grown up you have to tell the time.
  4. Create a screen time or activity time diary. Record the amount of time you spend doing something. At the end of the holiday add the time together to find out the total amount of time.
  5. Bake a cake, biscuits or any type of food and measure out the different ingredients. You could even cut your creation into different fractions.
  6. Create your own worded questions for fractions, addition, multiplication, measurements, division or subtraction and send them to me.

 

Extra activities

  1. Create a robot using recycled plastic, boxes and other items you can find. Then describe your robot by writing about it. You could create a video or write a story.
  2. Invent or play a sport and write instructions for the sport.
  3. Listen to a piece of music and recreate the music using different objects from around the house.
  4. Create a scrap book of the different things you have done during the holiday.
  5. Using pictures of things around you create a collage.
  6. Using different fabrics or coloured paper create a mosaic.
  7. Tune in to P.E with Joe in the morning at 9am.

Today I would like you to complete an end of assessment science test. Feel free to work with a grown up to help you think. First watch the bbc bitesize video to help.

For computing today you will be learning to do text based coding. You will be doing this on purple mash. You need to follow the instructions i have attached and use 2logo. I have attatched a link to this on the school website.

Thursday 2.4.20

English 2.4.20

Today you will be carrying on with you alternative fairy tale endings.Using your planning work from Wednesday, I would like you to write out the whole fairy tale and replace the ending with your own. Make sure you use your planning sheet to guide you, also use work from earlier in the week to help make your sentences great! Please make sure you read through your work and look for spelling and punctuation mistakes. Once you have written out your story you can write it in the form of a book. To do this you can use 2write a story on purple mash or create your own booklet on a piece of paper. 

Maths Year 3 - Today you will be creating potions by adding different amounts of liquids. After you have completed your work you could create your own potions by mixing different amounts of liquids. Make sure you do this with the help of a grown up (We don't want a mess)

Wednesday 1.4.20

English - Today I would like you to use the alternative ending to traditional tale sheet to plan how you are going to change the ending of your chosen fairy tale. On the sheet there are instructions on what you should do to create an effective edit. Feel free to print out your sheets and write on them, or create your own version in your workbooks. I am looking forward to reading your new endings. Use your imagination to create interesting changes. You should think of all the different ways a story could end and how the theme of a story could change.

 

Don't forget to use your work from earlier in the week to build you story and make interesting sentences. 

Year 3 - Today you will be looking at measuring capacity in ml. I would like you to investigate what capacity is by using different containers and pouring liquid. Can you discuss what the difference is between a ml and a l? A great activity is ordering different containers in order of their capacity.

Year 4 decimal place - Can you correctly compare the heights of these different monsters. Then design your own monsters and with measurements.

Afternoon - 

Today I would like you to be super sneaky animal investigators, your task is to hunt around for local wildlife and create a list what what you find (You might want to include any pets), you should also either take pictures of the animals or draw detailed drawings. Include all their features.

Tuesday 31.3.20

English 31.3.20 - Today you will be looking at adverbs. This will prepare you for writing your fairy tale endings. Once you have completed the work then you can get a head start on work for later on in the week by writing some interesting sentences using adverbs, adverbial phrases and fronted adverbials, these can be used to describe something you have done during your time off school or they can be completely made up.

Maths 31.3.20 - Year 4 Today you will be looking at decimal place and tenths. Once you have done these questions can you create some numbers which contain hundredths and thousanthdths

Maths 31.3.20 - Year 3 Today you will be measuring weights in grams. Once you have done this can you please find out other ways of measuring weight. Can you find different things in you house which you would use different measurements of weight to measure?

This afternoon I would like you to find different items you can measure and different ways you can measure them! This could be measuring the length of your garden using a ruler and then measuring it again using hands or maybe measuring the weight of a book using grams. 

 

When you have measured a few different items order them in different ways. 

 

 

 

Monday 30.3.20

English 30.3.20 - We are preparing to rewrite the ending of a fairy tale, to do this we will first be looking at interesting verbs we can use to make our work more exciting.

Maths 30.3.20 (Year 3) - Today you will be investigating measuring mass. If you have any scales you can do all sorts of fun investigation tasks. Make sure you look at the different ways to measure mass

Maths 30.03.20 (Year 4) - Today you will be investigating decimals. To start with you will be looking at dividing by 10 and 10. You will have to be able to identify different numbers correctly using place value. Don't forget what a decimal point means!

I will upload daily tasks by 10am  each morning. 

If the task has a work sheet to go with it, do not worry about printing out the sheet, instead complete the questions in a textbook and put the title of the worksheet along with the date at the top (We want to try and protect the environment).
