                                 Autumn Term with The Stingrays...

The Victorian Era.

After a great summer of long days and sunshine, we are back in school for a term of hard work and lots of fun, as we notice that Autumnal feel in the air... We have settled in quickly and are enjoying our topic about The Victorian Era, with much of our learning based on the novel Street Child by Berlie Doherty. Our Big Writes will all have a Victorian theme as we learn about the lives of children, the divide between rich and poor, Queen Victoria and influential people of this time, in particular Dr Barnardo. After half term, we continue on to the Industrial Revolution, exploring important inventions and the global importance of The British Empire at this time.

Sporting Opportunities.

Mike Rix will lead our Wednesday PE lessons, concentrating on football during this first half-term. We will also have visiting coaches from Luctonians leading  a couple of these sessions. We are again involved in the Netball League, with Miss Nicholls and Mrs Milward coaching the team and accompanying them to Monday after-school fixtures.

We will start our swimming sessions after half-term, travelling to Knighton on a Wednesday afternoon up until Christmas and then throughout the first half of the Spring Term.

Residential Visit to The Pioneer Centre.

We are on the countdown to our RESIDENTIAL VISIT!! This takes place in the last week before half-term (21st-23rd October). There will be a meeting for parents and children early in October where you will receive a kit list and find out about the accommodation and activities that we will be doing.

Keeping in Touch

Thank you to the parents who came to our Meet the Teacher Session. I appreciate that some working parents were unable to attend but our first parent/teacher consultations will take place in November. If you have any concerns that you feel need to be discussed before this time, please contact the school or pop in to arrange a time when we can have a chat.
