It's Summertime!
The sun is shining so it must be the summer term. The first half of this was spent preparing for SATs and Year 5 Assessment tasks and then celebrating (of course) with the traditional Cake Friday. After this, we took a Year 5/6 team to Shobdon Rounders Tournament and won it! This was followed by joining the rest of the school in our Jubilee Celebrations and then we headed for an action-packed 3 days in Cardiff- take a look at the photos below...
After the half-term break, we have started our Local History topic, learning about the important part that our local area played in British medieval history. This involves trips to local castles as well as experts visiting school too to incorporate learning about heraldry, weapons and warfare, castles, medieval medicine, food and medieval dancing. We are also finding time for lots of sporting opportunities including Gymnastics, Tag Rugby, Girls/Boys 7-a-side Football and Ultimate Frisbee! Being Year 5/6, transition to High School is never too far away, so both the Year 5s and the Year 6s will have a chance to experience what lies ahead by visiting Wigmore School in early July. Finally our attention is well and truly focused on our Summer Term KS2 production of Pirates of the Curry Bean. We are busy learning our lines, songs and organising costumes and props...it is going to be an epic production!
