This half term we are thinking about our 4 core values - Kindness, Resilience, Wisdom and Community

Hay Festival

Today we visited the Hay Literary Festival, it was a great day with 5 fantastic sessions.  Years 4 and 5 enjoyed poetry writing with Jo  Coelho, who knew that an abecedarian poem was a thing?  Well it is and hopefully we will be writing some in school to upload on our Foxes class page for you to have a look at.

They then moved on to learn about a family of hyenas, who have moved to England and are living undercover as humans.  the writer and illustrator pair Julian Clary and David Roberts talked us through their inspirations and showed us how to draw the 'Bold Family'  This was a very funny session and we all enjoyed it!

The Year 6 children learnt all about space and how to write a non -fiction book.  This was swiftly followed by a story telling session with Daniel Morden with his 'Secret Tales from Wales'

A hectic trip to the very bust book shop then took place with lots of books signed and some great reads purchased!

We all reounded off the day with a session by David Solomons who told us that the thing that inspire him to write are the things that were very current while he was in his final years of primary school , we should think carefully about how we spend our time and remeber this will be with us always!   He also reminded us that if you do not succeed you should keep trying as he did when he was trying to get his books published!
