Welcome to Butterflies!
This half term our topic is Fun at the Seaside!
This half term we are working on phase 4 and 5 sounds. The children are working hard on labelling, captions and dictation sentences as they complete their last term in Reception. Please remember to practise green word cards at home.
We want to continue to promote the love of reading and books in Butterflies by choosing new texts for the children to explore and discuss! This term we will read a range of texts, looking at fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Some of our favourite books include The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch, Pizza for Pirates and Commotion in the Ocean.
We will continue to develop our mastery in shape, measurement, pattern, addition and subtraction. We will also progress onto doubling and halving, time and money. Homework books will be sent home on Mondays and you will have a week to complete the page which is highlighted and date stamped.
Our topic will allow us to explore the seaside, volcanoes, dinosaurs, pirates and much more! The children are very excited to explore the new 'Dinosaur Den' which they helped to create this term!
Our PE days are Wednesdays (swimming) and Thursdays so please ensure children are sent in their PE kit. We are very fortunate to have Ludlow Tennis Club teaching tennis on Thursdays this term which we are very much looking forward to! Children must wear either a plain white t-shirt, or one with a Leintwardine logo, a skort, navy shorts, joggers or leggings and trainers.
Please remember that our door is always open and we are more than happy to discuss work or personal issues to make sure that your child has the best possible time at school.... there isn't much we can't help with, unless we don't know about it. If you need us, leave a message with the teacher on the gate in the morning or speak to us after school. We have new safeguarding procedures in place but these will not affect our open door policy.
Please use Seesaw to find out what we have been doing!
