  • The failure of The Treaty of Versailles to keep the peace.
  • The reasons for WW2
  • The countries involved
  • Life at war
  • Life on the Home Front (in particular the role of women an 'Being an Evacuee'
  • How and why the war ended

Then we will move on to CHRISTMAS!

Our WW1 Memorial Arboretum

Please come and visit our poignant memorial to local war heroes. The whole school and have been busy making poppies to create our amazing 'Weeping Tree'. The beautiful trees within our school grounds have each been dedicated to local men who went away to fight but did not return. Thank you to everyone within our school community for making a poppy and to Mrs Blatchford for all her hard work.

A Visit to LEINTWARDINE HISTORY SOCIETY

The society have been busy gathering information about Leintwardine's links to WW1 and in particular, the servicemen from the village that fought in the war but sadly never returned. We took a trip down to the Community Centre to look at the information and have also used the society's website to help with our research for our Memorial Arboretum.

STAR SCHEME with PC Jo ELLIS

We have sent home a letter informing you of this 5 hour learning programme about the use and misuse of drugs. The children will complete a booklet which they will then bring home to show you what they have learnt.

SWIMMING

Please note that swimming continues this half term, up to and including Wednesday 28th November. The Herons are busy earning their Achievement Badges.

Parent Consultaions

Please be aware that, due to 86% of parents needing to attend the evening consultation, it will be vital that we run to time. Appointments are strictly for 10 minutes only. If we need to talk for longer then another appointment will need to be arranged for a different time. I will send home an information sheet on Monday 12th November updating you about general teaching arrangements in our class. Hopefully this will avoid me having to take up valuable time that could be spent discussing your child. Thanks.

LEOMINSTER MUSEUM VISIT

On Tuesday 20th November will will be visited by The Leominster Museum who will bring WW2 artefacts for the children to find out about. Thank you to Liz Womack, our link with the museum, for helping to arrange this opportunity.
