Our Christian Value for September is 'Friendship'

Class 4 (Mrs Morris)

Welcome to Class 4!

SUMMER TERM 2017
This term we will be concentrating on the Geography based topics of 'Rivers' (prior to half term) and then moving on to explore aspects human geography, including types of settlement, land use and economic activity after the half term break. Local requirements of the curriculum will be addressed through river work looking at The Teme, and fieldwork undertaken locally in Leintwardine, in nearby Knighton and during our visit to Aberystwyth.

SAT WEEK

SATs are all finished for another 12 months! Well done to all Year 6 pupils for remaining calm and confident throughout and for the magnificent selection of cake (some courtesy of Year 5 as well) brought in on Cake Friday. These tests are of course marked externally and results will be released during the first week in June so I'm afraid there is a bit of a wait now.

P.E
We encourage Class 4 children to bring in their P.E. kit at the beginning of each half-term and for the kit to remain in school until the next holiday, unless heavily soiled. If it is worn home after a club, please ensure that it returns to school the next day.
For Summer PE lessons, a blue T shirt and dark shorts are required, along with a dedicated pair of trainers that can be kept with the PE kit. To avoid clothes becoming muddy, trainers can be kept in a plastic bag inside the PE bag.

'United Purpose'...Hands Up For the Planet!
We have made scaled down versions of Fuel Efficient Stoves and have taken part in the follow-up workshop looking at reducing our Carbon Footprints to help to save the planet. Now that SATS are out of the way we can return to this project and look forward to inviting parents to join us when we present our work to you in an assembly. Watch this space for details..

SPELLING BEE
We are currently learning our second Spelling Bee word list ready for Competition Day on Friday 9th June 2017, giving children the whole of Half-Term to really crack them! The winning 'Speller' from each year group will go on to represent the school at the Cluster Spelling Bee to take place @ Kingsland Primary School on Thursday 15th June.

SPEAK UP!

Following our @Speak Up- Speak Out Club' it was great to hear the visitor from 'United Purpose...Hands Up For the Planet' comment on 'what confident speakers we have here at Leintwardine. Well done Class 4; we had loads of fun building on our confidence when asked to speak out- telling stories, jokes, and playing games.

23rd May 2017...Trip to Knighton
Once all reply slips are back I will be able to make arrangements to transport the children for a fun-packed day walking Offa's Dyke, observing a birds-eye view of The Teme as well as getting up close later on in the day and carrying out a local survey before returning to school.

Summer Production...AliBaba and the Bongo Bandits
Purchased and (almost) personalised for Leintwardine, parts and scripts will be ready and  allocated before Half-Term so that lines can be learned during the holidays.
