Glen Parry and friends helped us to celebrate the year of the snake. We started the day by inviting all our parents to see the traditional lion dance and hear about how New Year is celebrated in the Chinese community. The rest of the day was taken up with a series of workshops. Everyone had the chance to try the lion dance and play the special musical instruments. The school resounded to drum beats for the whole day!!
Have a look at the photos to see what we all got up to!
We started the day with an assembly
The lion was looking for the lettuce
He has found it!
Playing the instruments was great fun
You could make the lion wiggle his ears
The lion heads were huge!
It was important to make the right moves
Lots of stamping was needed
The tail movements had to be just right!
We had to work together as a team
Two smiling lions!
It was really hard work
Thank you Glen!
